Moscow and Baghdad have signed a major deal to deliver “a large batch” of advanced Russian-made T-90 tanks to the Iraqi Armed Forces. A Kremlin official confirmed the deal adding the T-90s will reinforce the Iraqi Armed Forces' M1A1 Abrams fleet, part of which was damaged or captured in the fight against IS. The numbers of the deal have not been revealed, but according to the same official they are significant. Iraqi Ministry of Defense has also confirmed the purchase of the Russian-made tanks. In the past months, Uralvagonzavod, the tank’s manufacturer, had reportedly said it would have delivered 73 T-90S and T-90SK tanks to Iraq during this year. The T-90 SK is a specialized version of the T-90 for the command and coordination of the dependent tank units featuring HF antenna, more complex navigation system and other dedicated equipment.
